THAMESGIVING ARTISAN MARKET - November 10th

Every weekend in November, Thamesgiving organizes a lineup of family friendly events along its namesake “Thames” Street!

This Sunday November 10th, 2024 11:00am-5:00pm the Artisan Market will kick off the month long Thamesgiving celebration! Held at Newport’s newest chic boutique event space, Provence Sur Mer is located just off upper Thames Street overlooking Washington Square (right next door to one of Newport’s favorite institutions Jane Pickens Theatre !)

I so look forward to participating in this event! I will share the Whitney brand of porcelain tableware and stationery with my original pencil drawings and humorous sayings. There will also be live music and seasonal drinks and cider. The weather is looking perfect for an outdoor market.

Thamesgiving was the brainchild of Michele Gallagher, founder of City by the Sea Communications. Living on Thames Street, Michele noticed how quiet the usually bustling street turned after the summer season. Wanting to support her neighbors and friends and provide service to her community, Michele launched “Thamesgiving” to bridge Newport’s shoulder season and holiday season. Local businesses participate by offering specials to shoppers. There is also the Copper Pumpkin Passport where shoppers can follow a map to see how many pumpkins or visits to local businesses they can collect! Consider it a bit of a treasure hunt and fun for all ages.
